All New Bajaj V15

Bajaj V15 has received tremendous response from buyers across the country, and proof of it lies in the fact that the bike has garnered over 10,000 bookings so far. Considering the increasing demand, Bajaj Auto is planning to ramp up the bike’s production to 1,000 units per day in coming days. Priced at Rs. 62,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new Bajaj V bike is positioned above the Discover 150, and caters a niche segment. Though, it might also affect the sales of Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha R15 and other premium 150cc bikes in India.

The company is offering a compulsory accessory package that costs an additional Rs. 1,000, while the stock Bajaj V bike is priced at Rs. 61,000. Deliveries of the bike commenced from 23rd March 2016 – the day that is celebrated as ‘Shaheed Diwas’ in India. For people not in the know, the Bajaj V bike was unveiled just prior to the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo at an event in Delhi.

What makes the Bajaj V 15 a special bike is the fact that it is made using the Indian Navy’s first aircraft carrier – INS Vikrant. With scrambler + cafe racer like design elements, the Bajaj V15 targets the executive segment buyers. This will help the company grow its volumes in the fast-growing premium commuter category. In terms of design and styling, the Bajaj V looks a lot better than the Pulsar AS150. The home-grown two-wheeler maker might introduce more products under Bajaj V range across different segments.

Rs. 62,820 – Ex-showroom, Mumbai

Rs. 63,682 – Ex-showroom, Chennai

Rs. 65,498 – Ex-showroom, Kolkata

The company says that the new Bajaj V15 is not an ordinary bike. Its upright stance signifies solidity and attributes of the invincible INS Vikrant. What further makes it special is its mighty DTSi engine and a range of class-leading features.

The Bajaj V bike is made from INS Vikran’t metal that had played a crucial role in 1971 Indo-Pak War. First commissioned in 1961, the INS Vikrant served the country for over 36 years before finally getting decommissioned in the year 1997. After that it was kept as a museum ship in Mumbai, and was sent to scrapyard in January 2014. “But we were determined not to let history fade away into oblivion. So, we took INS Vikrant’s metal, melted it and gave it a new face – Bajaj V.”, said Bajaj Auto.

Bajaj V15 Design & Styling

The new Bajaj V bike is based on the semi-double cradle frame, and looks quite rugged and aggressive. The same platform is used for the Discover 150. The V15 features a cafe-racer inspired front fascia, INS Vikrant badge, removable rear seat cowl, LED tail lamp ergonomic handlebars and bold stance. Bajaj claims that the bike’s trapezoidal headlamp is 60% brighter than other bikes. Its large fuel tank made up of the invincible metal of the INS Vikrant that provides it strength and solidity. There is a new speedometer cluster with a dual colour LED fuel level indicator.

The new Bajaj bike is equipped with 5-twin spoke aluminium die-cast wheels with 90/90 – 18-inch front and 120/80 – 16-inch rear tyres that are claimed to offer best-in-class road grip and stability. The new Bajaj V bike draws its braking power from the large 240 dia disc front brake and 130 dia rear drum brake. The new Bajaj V15 is being made available with a choice of 2 colours – Ebony Black and Pearl White.

Moving to dimensions, the new Bajaj V bike measures 2,044mm in length, 780mm in width and 1,070mm in height. The wheelbase of the bike stands at 1,315mm. It has a saddle height of 780mm, while the ground clearance measures 165mm. The Bajaj V15 bike carries a kerb weight of 135.5kgs.

Throughout history, scientists have totally changed the way we see the world. From the theory of general relativity that helps us understand our Universe to the discovery of radioactive elements used throughout medicine today, without the work of people like Albert Einstein and Marie Curie, the world would be a very different place.

But just how well compensated were these great minds for their pioneering research? Stephen Pritchard from Adzuna did some digging into the salaries of history's best-known scientists, and updated them to today's currency, based on inflation rates. And the results are pretty surprising.

Not only are the salaries overall pretty low when you consider just how influential these researchers were - Einstein earned the most at US$173,000, which is pretty impressive, until you compare it to what today's lawyers are earning - they're also incredibly inconsistent.

For example, while the undeniably impressive Galileo Galilei earned around US$141,155 back in the 1600s for his contributions to astronomy, German astronomer Caroline Herschel was only paid $7,199 for discovering eight comets in the late 1700s.

Obviously sexism was an issue back then, but even between the guys, things don't really add up, with astronomer Edwin Hubble earning just $20,559 in 1919.

But before you get too mad, a lot of that inconsistency can be explained by the fact that these salary estimates were taken at different points in each of the researchers' careers - and only reflect one year, not a lifetime, of earnings.

"Einstein’s genius was well-established when he arrived at Princeton University for example, while Newton was almost 20 years away from publishing his theory on gravity," writes Pritchard.

Also, simply using inflation data to convert money from hundreds of years ago to today has its problems, so the comparisons aren't as straightforward as they appear.

But even as a rough guide, the infographic is still fascinating insight into how scientists were valued back in their day, and how our earnings today compare. You can see a zoomable version here.

Hope you found this good. Thank you.

Ravindra Jadeja with his fiancé Riva Solanki

Gujarat Lions all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will miss Saturday’s Indian Premier League match against Mumbai Indians as he is all set to tie the nuptial knot with fiancé Riva Solanki in Rajkot on Sunday.

“Ravindra Jadeja is not going to play today’s match and has not come to Mumbai with the team as he is getting married tomorrow,” sources in Gujarat Lions team said.

“It is also not sure whether he would be available for game against Sunrisers Hyderabad to be played on April 21,” sources said adding that the game is to be played in Rajkot and therefore there are still chances of Jadeja playing in that match.

The new entrant in the ninth edition of IPL has so far played well, registering two wins in two matches.

Jadeja, one of the team’s key player, played well in the game against Rising Pune Supergiants where he took two wickets and conceded only 18 runs in his four-over spell.

Sources also said that Gujarat Lions team members are expected to attend the wedding reception Sunday evening.

UBI TOWER, KOLKATA, Panel – 1, Date: 18.01.2016 , Time: 8: 30 AM

Background: Electrical Engineering (2015)

Entered the venue at 8: 20 AM, at around 8: 50 the attendance was taken and I was the last in the panel!

The TCS guys were having some issues with Bio-metric Match so it started late, but the Document verification went smooth.

I was called inside at 2:35 and there was a gap of 6-7 minutes after the previous interviewee left, I was alone out there and it was killing me. The lunch for the interviewers was ready on a desk beside me.

How pathetic.

Anyway, the wait was over with the bell. Interview lasted for 13-14 minutes only.

Panellists: M1 – M2 (was leading the panel) – M3 – M4 – F1

May I come in please (with a smile)

M2: Yes please come.

Wished the Sirs, wished Mam separately.

They wished me back and M2 said to take my seat, I said thank you and took the seat.

M2: So Arpan, you are the last one to be interviewed? How was your feeling as you were the only one outside and everyone have left for their home, you must be feeling very unlucky ha?

Me: Not that much sir, I was getting a little tensed.

M2: ok. where are you from?

Me: Told the place.

M2: Where near Raj Bhawan? we are also very close to that area. And you know who is the Governor now?

Told.

M2: You are a B. Tech in? and passing year?

Told.

M2: so what are the exams you are giving?

Me: Exams for Bank and insurance sector job.

M2: Why both? Can you name any two insurance company?

Explained well, Told.

Then he asked me a question on insurance that I was feeling hard to understand, then mam came in my help saying, "sir wants to know if bank has anything to do with insurance".

Told. I thanked Mam. They looked satisfied.

M2: what is the name of your university? (he was checking my provisional degree certificate)

Me: Sir it was known as WBUT but recently it is changed to Maulana Abul kalam Ajad University of Technology when I was in last semester.

M2: Do you know who he was?

Me: I told about him a little but he wanted to hear something more. ( as I was not sure, didn’t take a chance to tell the education minister thing)

He said ok and asked M1 to take the lead. M1 was just going to ask something and M2 interrupted.

M2: one last question, tell me how will your engineering degree help bank?

I was just waiting for it. Made a bang with my perfect answer.

Now M1: how does bank help unemployed youth and economically backward people?

Fumbled a bit, but Told.

M1: you know what is self help group?

Told

M1: name Any central or state scheme for them.

Couldn’t Recall.

He said ok, and M3 started.

M3: Why do we export? (My first preference is ECGC )

Told

M3: what does our country gain through Export?

Told, he was not that satisfied.

M3: what is invisible export?

Me: Sorry sir I don’t know.

He nodded his head and asked M4 to proceed.

Everyone smiled looking at me.

M4: what are the services you get from your account?

Told.

And lastly mam started asking.

F1: how banks earns profit?

Told

F1: What are the Expenses of bank?

Told some, but she said there is another big expense. Which I could not tell.

F1: your account in the bank is its expense or earning?

As mam was very co- operative I tried to answer it with explanation, but it didn’t work
that much.

She said as bank is giving you interest you should say its their expense.

I said thank you mam.

Now M2 said you can leave now.

I wished them A good day with smile and they wished me luck.

I thanked them and left.

That’s all.

No introduction, No family Background check & no question from Graduation.

Panel was pretty helpful.

I hope what i shared will be helpful. Enjoy the interview. All the best.

Farrah El Dibany thought something was odd. Her Tuesday EgyptAir flight was taking too long to get from Alexandria to Cairo, the plane was headed out over the Mediterranean Sea, and then, crew members began taking passengers' passports.

"When you fly to Cairo, you don't cross the sea," she said. "Then one of the cabin crew told us, 'We are hijacked. We're being hijacked.' There was a lot of panic and crying on the plane. They didn't tell us anything more. They didn't say what he wants or where we're heading, nothing. We were just kidnapped."

El Dibany's flight had been hijacked by a man who officials described as "unstable" after he held the passengers and crew hostage with a fake explosive belt, forcing the plane to divert to Cyprus -- apparently over issues involving his ex-wife, a Cypriot.

"It was very horrifying to be in this situation," El Dibany said.

The incident ended relatively peacefully Tuesday when the plane's crew and passengers left the aircraft and authorities took the hijacker into custody.

"The hijacker has just been arrested," Cyprus government spokesman Nikos Christodoulides said on Twitter, adding a few minutes later, "All passengers and crew are safe."
Cyprus state television showed video of the hijacker, wearing a white shirt, being led away by a phalanx of police.

An early report that the hijacker was armed with explosives was false, said Alexandros Zinon, permanent secretary for the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Shortly before news of the arrest, video of the aircraft, which was parked on the tarmac at Cyprus' Larnaca International Airport, showed people leaving the plane, one through a cockpit window.

Domestic woes?
The incident began when an Egyptian man -- who presidential spokesman Alaa Yousuf identified as Seif El Din Mustafa -- allegedly hijacked the EgyptAir flight because of his ex-wife, officials said Tuesday. The hijacking was not related to terrorism, a spokesman for the Cyprus Transport Ministry said.

The hijacker was "unstable," Homer Mavrommatis, director of the Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs Crisis Management Center, told CNN. Egyptian authorities negotiated with him, but Mavrommatis said his motivation was not clear.

"He kept on changing his mind and asking for different things," Mavrommatis said.

Zinon also said the hijacker was unstable. One of his demands was that the plane be refueled so that he could travel to Istanbul, which was rejected, Zinon said. Authorities did, however, arrange for him to speak to his ex-wife, Mavrommatis said.

Mustafa is now being questioned by Cypriot authorities, who will levy charges against him, Zinon said. Cyprus has yet to receive an extradition request, he said.

The Airbus 320 was carrying 70 people: 55 passengers, including the hijacker, seven crew members and, because it was a connecting flight, an additional eight crew members, according to EgyptAir's Dina El Foly. Officials said earlier that as many as 82 people were on the plane.
Many of the passengers and crew were released during the early stages of the ordeal, Egypt's Civil
Aviation Ministry said.

'There was a bit of chaos'

El Dibany told CNN in a phone interview that crew members didn't explain at first why they were collecting passports, and the captain never gave an official explanation.

"They just said that there was a problem and, 'Please don't ask,' " she said.
After the cabin crew told passengers "in a very calm voice" that the plane had been hijacked, "some women started crying, and there was a bit of chaos."
El Dibany said she was at the front of the plane and saw Mustafa from afar. The hijacker was behind a curtain in the cabin area at the back of the plane most of the time. He spoke only to the crew, she said.

Eventually, the plane landed in Cyprus, where it sat for what El Dibany estimates was at least 45 minutes before Mustafa said the women and children on board could leave, she said.

"About 20 minutes later, he said, 'All the Egyptians can leave,' and then at some point they got us a bus and we got off the plane, except some of the foreigners, non-Egyptians," said El Dibany. "So we left on the bus and they brought us to someplace safe."

She applauded how the crew "very professionally" handled the harrowing experience.

"They were keeping everyone calm," she said. "They weren't panicking. They were in control."
Threat of explosives

EgyptAir Flight 181 should have been a short one; it usually takes less than an hour to fly from Alexandria to the Egyptian capital.

But during the flight, Mustafa falsely claimed that he had an explosive belt, forcing the plane to turn away from its destination and toward Cyprus, pilot Omar El Gamal said, according to the Egyptian Civil Aviation Ministry.

"Pilots will have a special signal they can use to airport traffic control," said Tom Ballentyne, chief correspondent for Oriental Aviation. "It might be a code word or a signal they can use that will alert air traffic control that there is problem."

Officials initially didn't know whether the hijacker really had an explosive belt, but they had no choice but to take the threat seriously, Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Sherif Fathy Ateyya said. Later, Mavrommatis said, it became clear when the hijacker gave himself up that he was not wearing explosives.

What the pilots and crew might have thought were explosives turned out to be mobile phone cases, Zinon said. EgyptAir, too, reported the purported explosive belt was fake, citing Cypriot authorities.
Video released by Egypt's Interior Ministry shows Mustafa receiving a pat-down at the Alexandria airport before passing through security without incident.

'Old-fashioned type of terrorism'

The hijacking was "a more old-fashioned type of terrorism," said Sajjan Gohel of the Asia-Pacific Foundation London, explaining that it was rare for such negotiations to take place.

Egypt's Civil Aviation Ministry said the plane's foreign passengers included eight Americans, four Dutch, two Belgians, four Britons, one Syrian, one French and one Italian. Mavrommatis said there were also two Greek nationals on board, one of them the orthodox archbishop of Johannesburg.

All flights into Larnaca airport were diverted to Paphos International Airport on the southwest coast of the island, the Cyprus Civil Aviation Authority said.
Questionable air security
The hijacking was the latest incident to raise concerns about security at Egypt's airports.

In October, Metrojet Flight 9268 -- taking off from Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh airport -- was downed in the Sinai Peninsula, killing all 224 people on board. ISISclaimed responsibility, saying it breached security and smuggled a bomb on board.

"Ever since the Metrojet plane was blown up, it has been confirmed that there are lapses in Egyptian security," Gohel said.

Since then, Egypt has promised it would beef up security at airports across the country. Egypt insists that airports are safe and says tourists should come back.

How tourists respond to this latest incident remains uncertain.

All domestic and international fights at Egyptian airports are proceeding according to schedule, with minor delays because of heightened security, the Civil Aviation Ministry said in statement.

"Flights to and from Larnaca airport have resumed and are now back to normal. All arrival and departures are back to normal," said Demetrius Mitrokanallos with the airport's passenger terminal services.
